The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has unveiled the official campaign poster of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, formally setting the stage for its 2026 general election campaign.

The launch ceremony, held on Monday at the NRM headquarters on Plot 10 Kyadondo Road in Kampala, was presided over by the party’s First National Vice Chairman, Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, and Second National Vice Chairperson, Rebecca Kadaga. The portrait will serve as the central visual symbol for all campaign materials, including posters, t-shirts, and caps, as the NRM begins its re-election drive.

Speaking at the unveiling, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong underscored the party’s campaign message, emphasizing performance over political rivalry.

“We are a party that doesn’t compete with anybody but with issues. We can speak about peace, infrastructure, health, agriculture, and security. Each and every indicator points to socio-economic transformation,” Todwong said.
The campaign will run under the theme: “Protecting the Gains as We Make a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.” Todwong explained that the focus is to consolidate progress made in key sectors while positioning Uganda for middle-income growth.
Al-Hajji Kigongo appealed to Ugandans to renew their trust in the NRM and its flag bearer.
“We respect the citizens because they have supported us since we came to power. Today we open a new chapter, going back to the drawing board to see how we start afresh. We appeal to Ugandans to support NRM as we renew our mandate,” he said.
He also defended the party’s strength and wide reach, pointing to the recently concluded primaries where NRM fielded more than two million leaders across the country.
“No political party in our country can sponsor candidates from village level to the highest level apart from the mighty NRM,” Kigongo added.
According to Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Mobilization, Moses Byaruhanga, a committee is finalizing the 2026–2031 manifesto, which will highlight the NRM’s achievements over the past five years and present new strategies for accelerating socio-economic transformation. The manifesto is expected to be launched after nominations.
NRM’s Director for Information and Publicity, Emmanuel Dombo, stressed the significance of the newly launched portrait and branding.
“This is the official brand of the National Resistance Movement. For whatever we do—posters, t-shirts, and caps—we shall use this image,” Dombo noted.
The unveiling of Museveni’s 2026 campaign poster marks the first major step in the ruling party’s preparations for the upcoming elections. With the campaign theme anchored on protecting past achievements and pursuing middle-income status, the NRM signaled readiness to mount a vigorous campaign under the stewardship of President Museveni, who has led Uganda since 1986.
