The Inspector General of Police, Martins Okoth Ochola has reverted CID boss Grace Akullo’s former Deputy Director SPC Geoffrey Musana from investigations to Human Resource directorate .
During General Kayihura’s reign in police leadership, Musana was hitherto more powerful than his boss AIGP Akullo.
Even most of the sensitive Investigations were handled by Musana, rendering Akullo’s office useless.
In an attempt to dismantle Kayihura’s left ‘kawukumis’, in the force, Ochola has moved Musana from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to Human Resource Administration as the deputy director to create room for CID directorate to investigate their cases without Musana’s interference .
He has also appointed SCP Namanya Benjamin as Deputy director of Peace Support Operations.
IGP Ochola has also transferred Commissioner Michael Mugabi from Police Training School Kabalye in Masindi District where he has been the commandant to police headquarters in Naguru as the Commissioner in charge of Training, replacing him with ACP Abubaker Ziwedde. ACP Ziwedde has been in training in senior command and academy in Musanze. Rwanda.
ACP Simon Peter Wafana has also been transferred from the Directorate of Operations to the Directorate of Human Resources to head manpower.
In a period of five months, Ochola has made more than ten reshuffles in efforts to quash left Kayihura systems.
He has also transferred officers who were believed to be too loyal to his predecessor.
In a police message sent on Tuesday, SCP Musana has been reverted from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations department to Human Resource Administration as the deputy director.
“The transfer and appointments take immediate effect,” IGP Ochola said in his communication on Tuesday.
