NWSC took over the Sembabule water supply operations in April 2016 after an outcry from residents that the existing system was inadequate, experienced frequent pipe bursts, system vandalism and more. In fact, the entire system needed to be revamped to improve supply in the water-stressed areas as well as meet the growing demand for services in the district at large.

To address the area’s challenges, NWSC, in the FY 2018/19 initiated a project for the improvement of water supply services in the district and construction works commenced in August 2020. The project was financed using internally generated resources thus; funded by the NWSC.
