Kampala: Popular musician Pius Mayanja aka Pallaso, whom we told you earlier had fled with police handcuffs, was finally apprehended by police after a night-long hunt.

We revealed through this website on Thursday, how the police had raided Pallaso’s home Luwafu Zone, Makindye Division, after receiving a complaint from a neighbour about the loud noise that was emanating from within his residence.

TheSpy Uganda also revealed that when the police arrived at Pallaso’s crib, a scuffle ensued between his supporters and the police, which resulted into many of them being arrested for allegedly breaching COVID-19 regulations of maintaining social distance, not wearing face masks and gathering in large numbers, which are all fertile grounds for the spread of the pandemic.

However, we have since established that following the scuffle that ensued, Pallaso sustained injuries as a result of struggling with the police and he ended up being arrested again.

As you read this, the singer is currently admitted to a popular health facility in Kampala undergoing medical attention, where the police later smoked him out and handcuffed him.

Earlier on, Kampala Metropolitan deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire had confirmed that Pallaso had managed to escape from custody and that they were looking for him on charges of escaping from lawful custody and obstruction.

“Police has preferred to investigate allegations of obstruction, inciting violence and doing a negligent act likely to spread an infection of a disease,” Owoyesigire said on Thursday.

He added that they had received a disturbance call from residents of Luwafu Zone in Makindye at around 12:46 Am on Thursday morning that a group of unruly people had gathered at Pallaso’s home.

“Our team responded to the scene and found the allegations to be true. A group of over 30 people at Luwafu in the home of Pius Mayanja aka Pallaso had gathered, playing loud music, drinking and not following the safety guidelines issued by the ministry of health on curfew and public gatherings. The team commander reached out to Pallaso and the team to reduce the volume of their music and reminded them of the guidelines that prohibit gatherings similar to theirs,” Owoyesigire said.

He noted that while still addressing the gathering, the group became violent, something that prompted Police to arrest Pallaso and Henry Kasozi, one of his guests, who later became violent.

However, by the time of filing this report, the police were yet to issue statement about this unfortunate incident.

We shall keep you updated.
