Pan African UNICAF University Finally Launched In Uganda

After partial testing, UNICAF University has officially launched its operations to offer cutting edge education ahead of November official reopening of Uganda based tertiary institutions.

UNICAF University is a pan-African independent, recognised university combining the best elements of international education, offering high-quality academic qualifications.

“The University takes advantage of UNICAF partnerships with reputable universities to provide competitive, internationally recognised online degree programmes at affordable prices. Students can also choose to study toward University’s own international quality degree programmes,” George Nasinyama the University Vice-Chancellor said.

According to Nasinyama, the University is a proud member of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), the Southern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA), and the Advance HE. Unicaf University campuses in Zambia and Malawi that are also accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) as an Independent Higher Education Provider.

According to Nasinyama the University that is currently as well licensed and regulated by the National Council for Higher Education has extended one million dollars scholarships to students to acquire world-class education qualifications.

Mr Timothy Sejjoba who represented Minister of State for Higher Education Dr John Muyingo challenged UNICAF University leadership to support country development by carrying out impactful research saying most researches are irrelevant and does not answer problems of society needs and are not aligned to National Development Plan.

He asked UNICAF University to make their teaching programmes equitable and of quality standard.

“UNICAF University should not only provide equitably and hold a high number of students enrollment but comply with higher education quality assurance mechanism instituted by National Curriculum Development Centre to deliver world Class Education,” Sejjoba said.

ICT Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi cautioned parents and students to embrace innovations in education like studying online learning amidst a Covid pandemic.

He pledged to make a favourable environment for online education in terms of Internet accessibility and tariffs charges for the ICT sector.

According to National Council for Higher Education, currently there are 54 public and private universities in Uganda.
