Pan-Africanists under their umbrella Organization, The Pan-African Pyramid expressed their heartfelt condolences on the passing on of Mr.Aneeze Sherali Bandali Jaffer who breathed his last on Saturday 21 July in Canada. Aneeze,63 was Chairman Fairway Hotel & Spa
PAP’s Speaker Andrew Irumba on behalf of the members, while signing in the condolence book on Monday evening that has been placed at Fairway Hotel reception since Sunday told fellow mourners that the Pan-African pyramid fraternity across the globe lost an irreplaceable pillar in their beliefs of supporting humanity for greater good and the well being of society.
“You see, true Pan-Africanism goes beyond skin colour and race, when one looks at those then they mistake RACISM for Pan-Africanism. Mr.Aneez,just like his late dad Sherali Bandali has been a strong believer of Pan-Africanism,we’re not here by accident. Most Hotels owned by our ‘brothers and sisters’ refused to host our Pan-African debates because we didn’t have enough money,but Mr.Aneeze and his son Azhar Jaffer accepted to host us, because they looked not at money but at an idea that would drum up and amplify an African voice in dire need, so in this case who is more Pan-African?” Irumba questioned.
Irumba also took mourners memory lane when he reminded them that it’s Aneeze’s father Sherali Bandali who settled Ugandans in Canada who had fled Iddi Amini’s brutal government, yet a fellow Ugandan had expelled Asians from their country. “This family’s Pan-Africanism roots way back in 1972, when Amini expelled Asians, there were Ugandans whose lives were equally threatened and had to flee along. But it’s Aneez’s father Sherali Bandali who settled the over 55,000 Ugandans in Canada and processed for them citizenry documentation there, can you imagine?!” he said.
Aneez, who died on Saturday in Canada had traveled on Wed.to attend his son Azhar Jaffer’s wedding which was slated for next week Thursday 26th July in Canada, their other country home.
Azhar,who doubles as the managing director in their family’s centuries old Hospitality business had left Uganda two weeks earlier to Canada to prepare for the arrival of his father and other family members and to put final touches on the wedding activities.
According to family sources, late Sherali arrived well in Canada on Wednesday but developed acute ‘dizziness’ on Saturday evening and shortly breathed his last! “The actual cause of his death will be medically confirmed later, but for now just know our Muzei is no more,” a family member who didn’t want to be quoted told TheSpy.
Sherali was born on 12th Sept 1955. His father Mr. Bandali Jaffer founder of Fairway Hotel also died in Canada on December 27, 2014 aged 90 but was buried in Uganda as per his wish.
Late Jaffer (senior), a former member of Uganda’s Parliament, was one of 80,000 Asians expelled by Idi Amin on August 4, 1972. Burial arrangements will be communicated later.
