Panic As Health Minister Tests Covid-19 Positive

Cape Town, South Africa: South African Health Minister Zweli Mkhize and his wife have tested positive for COVID-19-his office has confirmed in a statement.

This was further confirmed by the minister himself through his Twitter, saying he felt unwell and had mild symptoms before he and his wife were subjected to medical tests.

”I wish to inform the public that this afternoon my wife, Dr. may Mkhize and I have tested positive for Covid-19. we decided to go test yesterday when i started showing symptoms,” Minister Mkhize confirmed on his Twitter.

”I was feeling abnormally exhausted and as the day progressed, i started losing appetite, my wife had a cough, was dizzy and extremely exhausted. given her symptoms, the doctors advised that she must be admitted for observation and dehydration, i am now in quarantine at home and both my wife and I remain optimistic that we will fully recover from this virus,” Mkhize posted on his Twitter.

”I will use this quarantine period to rest and recharge because our task to improve the health services of our country and the lives of our people even after post-COVID-19 remains of paramount importance,” the minister noted.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Africa’s affected country after hitting the 700,00 mark on Friday since the first case was diagnosed in March this year.

According to the latest government data on Monday, South Africa has registered a total of 703,793 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 18,471 deaths.

Panic As Health Minister Tests Covid-19 Positive

The minister further warned and urged the people of South Africa and Africa at large not to take Covid-19 for granted and protect their lives and those of their loved ones.

“Let us not dare regress,” Mkhize said, adding, “Whatever we do and wherever we go, we have to keep in mind that there remains a risk of a second wave. This virus only spreads through movement and contact of people. Therefore we must all play our part. We must protect ourselves and those we love.”
