Patient Who Was Embarrassed By Equity Bank On His Deathbed Dead

By Andrew Irumba

Kampala: The old man who was a few days back embarrassed on his death by a manaager at Crane Bank Kampala, after he refused to release money such that he could clear his medical bills sadly breathes no more.

Family sources revealed that Mzee John Byabazungu passed away on Sunday night after losing his battle to cancer, at Nakasero hospital.

Mzee Zabazungu’s predicament attracted public attention early this month when a manager at Equity bank refused to allow the deceased’s son to withdraw money from his father’s account.

The money was to pay medical bills at Norvik Hospital, which had been treating Zabazungu, but after realising that they could not handle his situation anymore, they decided to refer him to Nakasero Hospital.

But Norvik Hospital bosses refused to release the deceased until he had cleared his medical bills. Problem was, the Manager at Equity bank couldn’t release the money; he insisted Zabazungu had to travel the bank dead or alive for the money!

Left with no choice, Norvik Hospital medics and Zabazungu’s son had to make him suffer the discomfort of leaving his sickbed and ferried him to Equity Bank, in the dead of the night, to withdraw money, pay his medical bills, before he was rushed to Nakasero’s Intensive Care Unit.

He was bedridden in the ICU and God called him to rest from the troubles of this world. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
