Police Arrest Suspected Thief With 28 Stolen NIRA Cameras, 18 Laptops

Detectives at Old Kampala police station are holding a notorious suspect who allegedly broke into the offices of National Identification Registration Authority (NIRA) offices in Kyankwanzi  and stole 18 laptops and 28 mirror cameras.

The suspect was identified as Suleiman Semakadde, a resident of Lungujja, Rubaga division, Kampala district.

The  Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson  ASP Luke Owoyesigire said that ; “The arrest of Semakade came after police received  intelligence that there was a man  looking for  market for suspected stolen property. Upon arresting him, Semakadde was found with NIRA properties  which had been stolen a few days back.”

Oweyesigire added that “The suspect is currently detained at Old Kampala police station on charges of theft pending transportation to Kyankwanzi, where he committed the offence from and he will later be arraigned in courts of law to face the charges vide CRB 724/2019 of Old Kampala Police.”
