Police in Kampala on Friday afternoon stormed a poverty alleviation function organized by People Power pressure group members in Busega and arrested several of them.
Among the top leaders who were arrested was Jackline Nakajubi, a mobiliser, who had gone to attend the function that had been held in Busega, Kibumbiro in Lubaga division.
Spy Uganda has learnt that she had gone with others to attend the launch of a People Power funded project for women engaging in catering services, who were launching their cooperative called Busega Catering Services Cooperative Society.
However, she and others who were donning People Power colours were blocked at the entrance of the venue by cops from Busega-Kibumbiro police, arrested and taken to Busega police post from where they were later released in the evening without any charges being pressed against them.
It should be noted that Nakajubi wants to contest as Rubaga Division Lord Councilor on People Power ticket come the 2021 general election but every time she tries to address her supporters the police quickly rushes in to block her political activities.
This however comes a few days after police blocking all People Power activities, especially Kyadondo East constituency Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s presidential consultation meetings.
