Police Arrests Two More MTN Top Bosses Over Unclear Circumstances

Kampala, Uganda: The police Special Investigations Unit based in Kireka on Tuesday arrested and subjected the MTN Mobile money boss to intensive grilling over  allegations of inciting  violence.

Ms Elsa Mussolini and her colleague Mr. Anthony Katamba, the General Manager Corporate Services and Chief Legal Counsel at MTN respetively, were summoned to Kireka, where they were subjected to heavy grilling by police detectives. The arrest came shortly after the government of Uganda had deported two MTN executives  Olivier Prentout and Anne Bilenge Tabula to Rwanda and France  respectively on allegations of compromising national security. Later the CID deputy director in charge of special investigations Mr. Elly Womanya wrote to Mussolin and Katamba  inviting them to the Special Investigations Unit (SID) without fail, to assist the security in the ongoing investigations into their alleged incitement of violence. Several hours after the interrogation, Mussolin was deported.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed Ms Mussolini’s deportation to Italy and explained that investigations into incitement of violence were still on-going. Enanga said  “A decision has been taken to deport Ms Mussolini for inciting violence”  He added that “Investigations are still ongoing on why they participated in incitement to violence. Enanga, however, did not provide any context in regards  to the alleged crime.  “
