The police have finally spoken out about NBS TV journalist Samson Kasumba, who was arrested on Monday night on his way home from work.
Several hours after being held incommunicado, Police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga, revealed on Tuesday during the daily briefing at Uganda Media Centre, that Kasumba is a subject of investigations on alleged involvement in subversive activities.
“Kasumba is being held with several others for alleged involvement in subversive activities. Police experts from Criminal Investigations Department are interrogating and several others on the same charges,” said Enanga.
Enanga however was quick to add that Kasumba’s case was not related to his journalistic work.
The force’s soft spoken mouth piece also revealed that Kasumba had been subjected to an interrogation session and he was set to be taken to various places, including his home, for a search.
Kasumba was arrested last night after his evening news bulletin on NBS and taken to Kira Road Police Station where he is currently detained.
However, impeccable sources have revealed to this website that a few hours ago, Kasumba was taken to his home by police detectives with intent to conduct a search as part of the ongoing investigations into the allegations lodged against him. Watch this space for details
