Police Inself Cleansing Mode? RPC Siragi Bakaleke arrested in 1.4bn Armed Robbery from Investors!

Police has arrested one of its own Senior Police Officers over armed robbery!

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Siragi Bakaleke has been arrested on allegations of robbing  Korean Investors on gun point.

Bakaleke the Kampala South Regional Police Commander is detained alongside ASP Munezero the Officer in Charge, Crime Intelligence Katwe Police Station who doubled as an Investigating Officer, ASP George Kayongo an Operative, PC Kenneth Zirintusa an Operative and Patrick Ochen also an Operative.

Our SpyUganda reporter chanced on information that Bakaleke is being detained at Railway Police Station while other suspects are being detained at Nalufenya Detention Facility along River Nile in Jinja.

RPC Bakaleke is accused of obtaining USD 400,000 from three Korean Investors who were in the Country for business deals in connivance with City Lawyer only identified as Wanyoto.

The Korean Investors are Park Seunghoon and Jang Shingu Un who were all residing at Entebbe Mall Apartments.

It’s said that on February 5th, Bakaleke received a call from Wanyoto and tipped him that he had Investors who had large sums of money so they could meet and discuss on how to defraud them.

It is revealed that Wanyoto tricked the Investors who were seeking for his Legal Services at Acacia Avenue to meet him and there after connived with Bakaleke and deployed his Officers from Crime Intelligence to defraud them.

A trusted source narrated that Operatives from Crime Intelligence sealed off Wanyoto’s offices before they put the Investors on gun point and asked them to sign for the withdrawal of the money.

The money worth USD 400,000 approximately Shs. 1.4bn was later withdrawn from Barclays Bank.

The Investors were later in the night taken at Katwe Police Station where they slept in the Office of the Officer in Charge and spent there the next day of February 6th.

A source further narrated that on February 7th, devised means of how to kill evidence and came up with an idea of deporting them back to their country so that they will never report anyway.

“They hatched a plan to deport them, so they processed for them air tickets using Emirates Airline, they were put in a civilian vehicle with a Police Patrol and off they drove them to Entebbe Airport.

However, their luck ran out after they reached when Emirates Airline had already left them.

It is reported that the Police Operatives informed their Bosses in Kampala that the Plane had left them and were told to hold on and wait for money such that they could process another one with Rwanda Air.

“As they waited, the Koreans asked them to allow them go to Diamond Trust Bank and as they were coming they were sealed off by a Counter Force”.

A source revealed that Special Forces at the Airport observed how the Koreans were being treated and informed State House which also got in touch with Flying Squad Unit Headquarters in Kampala for rescue.

“As they were still there stuck with them, Flying Squad came and arrested one Police Operative before others disappeared within thin air.”

The Investors were brought back and are being guarded at a Hotel in Kampala to help in investigating the suspects.

Subsequently, four Police Officers were arrested and detained at Nalufenya in Jinja.

RPC Siragi Bakareke also today afternoon recorded a statement at the Police Professional Standards Unit in Naguru where he was later picked and detained at Railway Police in Kampala.

Vincent Sekate, PSU’s spokes person confirmed the arrest of the four Officers and said they have been charged with charges of Abuse of office, misconduct, theft and illegal deportation of people. The case will be investigated to its logical conclusion.
