A wave of shock and grief has engulfed Kabwohe Town following the brutal murder of prominent businessman Betware Edison, who was ambushed and killed by unidentified assailants early Monday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. as the 63-year-old was en route to his workplace in Kabwohe Town. The attack took place near Rutoma Cell in Rutooma Ward, Kabwohe Division, sending ripples of fear through the once-peaceful community.
Confirming the incident, SP Apollo Tayebwa, spokesperson for the Greater Bushenyi Police Region, described the killing as both “tragic and deeply concerning.”

“The deceased, Betware Edison, was attacked and killed by unknown assailants. We are actively pursuing all leads to uncover the motive and apprehend the individuals responsible for this heinous crime,” SP Tayebwa told reporters.
Eyewitnesses and local residents reported hearing screams and a violent struggle in the early hours of the morning. Betware’s lifeless body was later discovered along a path he routinely used to reach his business premises. Preliminary findings suggest the attackers also stole several personal items, prompting police to classify the incident as murder and aggravated robbery.

Though the motive remains unclear, close family sources indicated that the deceased had not reported any recent threats or disputes. Betware was widely respected in the region for his entrepreneurial success and unwavering support for local development initiatives.
“He was like a father to many in this area,” a grief-stricken resident of Kabwohe said. “His death is not just a family tragedy; it’s a blow to the entire community.”
In response to the killing, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) have launched a full-scale investigation. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding buildings and have appealed to the public for information that could lead to the suspects’ arrest.
“We are treating this case with the urgency and seriousness it deserves,” SP Tayebwa emphasized. “We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward and assist the investigation.”
Betware Edison’s body has been transferred to Kabwohe Health Centre IV for a post-mortem examination as funeral arrangements are underway.
As the community mourns, the demand for justice grows louder. Authorities have pledged to leave no stone unturned until the perpetrators are brought to book.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
