HE. President of Rwanda Paul Kagame has finally landed in Uganda-TheSpy Uganda reports.

The Rwandan president touched down at Entebbe around 3:30pm and was received by Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, at the airport.

Earlier the two flags of Rwanda and Uganda had gone up alongside each other about an hour before Kagame’s landing. This symbolized an imminent visit by Rwanda’s head of state.

According to sources, one of the reasons Kagame is visiting the pearl of Africa is to grace celebrations marking the 48th birthday of UPDF Land Forces Commander, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba which will be concluded today with a dinner organized by President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet at State House Entebbe.

This will be the first time Kagame will be visiting Uganda in four years for a social function that will be for none other than his ‘son’ Muhoozi who proudly calls him uncle.

Kagame’s friendship with Muhoozi came to the limelight earlier this year when the two started initiating a smooth relationship between Uganda & Rwanda through talks that saw the reopening of the Gatuna border which Kigali had closed for years.

The move to reopen the border, which was among the key issues at the centre of relations between the two countries, sent a strong signal that the neighbors could have solved the issues that have crippled relations in recent years.

After the two meetings held in Kigali, Muhoozi and Kagame then agreed to take practical steps toward resolving issues that had caused tensions between the two countries.

Soon after the meeting, Gen Museveni transferred some of the individuals accused by Rwanda of being behind acts that target innocent Rwandans in Uganda, notably Maj. Gen. Abel Kandiho, the former head of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI).

Kandiho had been accused by Rwanda of being behind the witch-hunt targeting Rwandans inside Uganda, arbitrarily arresting them on accusations of espionage and detaining them incommunicado. He was also accused of working with subversive groups looking to destabilize Rwanda.

As a sign that the relationship had been restored, in the latest meeting held in March this year, Rwanda’s presidency announced that President Paul Kagame had gifted long-horned cows to Muhoozi.

“Earlier today, President Kagame received General Muhoozi Kainerugaba at his farm where he gifted him with Inyambo cows,” tweeted the Rwandan presidency.

When families give cows to each other, they consider each other as reliable friends, so, giving cows to Museveni’s son Muhoozi, meant they had strengthened their friendship.
