The former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has applauded President Museveni for every positive thing he has done towards the transformation of Uganda but urged him to retire and give young people a chance to lead.

Speaking at Kihihi High School fundraising on Sunday as Chief Guest, Mbabazi said he will die thanking Museveni but it is high time he retired.

“In the government, he led us well and as of now, Uganda has been transformed. I thank him and I will die thanking him but it’s time he has to retire,” Mbabazi said.

Mbabazi added that he told the President how life was better outside politics but he instead chased him out of state house.

“I had disagreements with my friend President Museveni. Do you know why we disagreed? It was all because I wanted him to retire. I have all along been talking good of him and I kept doing so even in the campaigns. I never talked bad of him as he led us well in the war and we won,” he said.

The Ex-PM contributed 400 iron sheets worth Shs18m while businessman James Musinguzi Garuga donated 200 iron sheets worth 9m. The whole fundraising made over Shs67m.

Kihihi High school head teacher Stanley Turyasingura said the school which started 1983 with a population of about 50 students has grown to accommodate over 1,500 students.

He said money raised will be used to complete the Multipurpose Hall which will create a conducive learning environment for the increased number of students.
