President Museveni Hosts Retired UPDF Generals To Sumptuous Dinner

Entebbe: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Monday evening hosted 19 Generals who were retired by the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF).

President Museveni, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda Armed Forces, bid farewell to the 19 retiring Generals who have served the country for a period of between 30 to 45 years. The President during the farewell party at State House, Entebbe, advised the UPDF retirees to invest wisely in order to create a base for themselves in civilian life.

While commenting about the ceremony, Museveni wrote on his twitter handle thus;

“I hosted retiring UPDF Generals to dinner at State House Entebbe yesterday. This event was somewhat a recapitulation of the stories I captured in the Mustered Seed about the army. Where we started small, galvanised and determined, but later ‘hatched’ into something big.”

Some of the General that have been retired include; Lt Gen. Joram Mugume, Lt. Gen. Ivan Koreta and Brig Gen Ramadan Kyamulesire, the longest-serving UPDF Chief of Legal Services; Maj Gen Timothy Sabiiti Mutebile, the Chief of UPDF Engineering and Construction; Brig Gen Charles Angulo Wacha, the UPDF Director of Human Rights; Brig Gen Sam Kakuru, the Deputy Chief of Personnel and Administration, Brig Gen Mathew Ssewankambo; Maj. Gen. Jimmy Wills Byarugaba; Maj. Gen. Sam Wasswa Mutesasira; Brig. Gen. Gyagenda Kibirango; Brig. Gen. Tom Tumuhairwe; Maj. Gen. Ambrose Musinguzi; Brig. Gen. Mulondo and Brig. Gen. John Mulindwa.
