Kampala’s business and philanthropic fraternity is in mourning following the death of illustrious entrepreneur and benefactor, James Garuga Musinguzi, who breathed his last at a city hospital. Family intimates confirmed that the distinguished mogul, believed to be in his seventies, succumbed after a protracted battle with an undisclosed illness.

Hailing from Kanungu District, Garuga carved an indelible niche in Uganda’s economic and political landscape, amassing repute through trailblazing ventures in agriculture, real estate, and the transport sector. Despite his national prominence, he retained deep-rooted ties to his ancestral home, often channelling substantial resources towards the upliftment of local communities.

Renowned not merely for his commercial ingenuity but equally for his altruism, Garuga spearheaded transformative development projects across southwestern Uganda—initiatives that will continue to reverberate through generations.

His demise has triggered an outpouring of grief and admiration from across the country, as business magnates, political figures, and ordinary citizens alike pay glowing tribute to a life defined by enterprise, generosity, and enduring patriotism.
