Toronto: Rapper Kanye West tweeted a public apology to his now wife Kim Kardashian West, after he wrote a series of incendiary tweets last week, claiming she had locked him up and that he was considering divorcing her.
“I would like to apologize to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter. I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me,” he wrote in a tweet Saturday.

The development comes after West shared a personal story last Sunday about wanting to get an abortion when Kardashian West was pregnant with their first child, North. West shared the story during a campaign rally in South Carolina for the U.S. presidential election, in which he proclaimed himself as a candidate.
Following West’s comments, Kardashian published a statement on Instagram on Wednesday asking for “compassion” from the public in regards to her husband’s recent public statements.
She said West has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and thanked the public for expressing their concerns.
“We as a society talk about giving grace to the issue of mental health as a whole, however we should also give it to the individuals who are living with it in times when they need it the most. I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this. Thank you for those who have expressed concern for Kanye’s well being and for your understanding,” she wrote on Instagram.
However the ‘Jesus Is King’ rapper said he was sorry for not protecting his partner’s privacy like she always protected his. The wealthy musician acknowledged how much he hurt Kim with his words and thanked her for always standing by him.
However, the 43-year-old, in an unprecedented turn of events, avoided deleting the apology statement like he did his previous posts. As earlier reported, Kanye accused his wife and mother-in-law of attempting to control him and get him locked up in an asylum.
According to the Yeezy creator, Kim and her mum put out statements regarding his health without consulting him. He also said he wanted to divorce the mother of his children after finding out she had met rapper Meek Mill in a hotel. Kanye referred to the mother of his children as a white supremacist and called out her sister Kylie Jenner.
The presidential hopeful claimed he was hiding at his ranch to avoid being whisked away by doctors against his will. Kim put out a statement saying her husband was suffering from bipolar disorder and asked her fans to respect the West family’s privacy.
