Kampala: NBS Television has officially welcomed Rhonet Atwiine, one of Uganda’s most accomplished and promising young journalists, into its newsroom as part of a broader strategy to strengthen the station’s coverage ahead of the 2026 general elections.

A decorated multimedia journalist, Atwiine brings with her a wealth of experience in field production, reporting, and editing, with a special focus on community-centred journalism. Her work has consistently amplified underreported voices and driven change in areas such as health, gender, and social equity.

With an impressive array of accolades, among them, the Best Health Journalist award at the 2025 ACME Awards and a win at the Broadcast Micro-Solutions Journalism Network Awards, Atwiine stands out as a powerhouse of impactful storytelling.

She is also a recipient of the Craimer Mugerwa Award from Makerere University and has completed high-profile fellowships with DW Akademie, Africa CDC, Aga Khan School of Media, ICFJ, and Global Press Institute.

Beyond reporting, Atwiine is known for her dedication to mentoring the next generation of media professionals, making her a valuable addition to NBS TV’s mission of not just informing, but transforming.
Her arrival comes as Next Media Group continues to scale its resources and talent pool in preparation for 2026.

Group CEO Kin Kariisa and his leadership team have been across the continent and even in Dubai, sourcing cutting-edge equipment to bolster NBS TV’s coverage arsenal.
