Kampala: Hey!, did you read in the Bible about a scenerio when Jesus Christ fed over 5000 people on mere 5loaves and 5 fish and on the second ocassion he fed about 4000 of his followers? Well, the first miracle, “Feeding of the 5,000”, is reported by all four gospels (Matthew 14–Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6–Mark 6:31-44; Luke 9–Luke 9:12-17; John 6–John 6:1-14), and the second miracle, the “Feeding of the 4,000”, with seven loaves of bread and fish, is also reported by Matthew 15 (Matthew 15:32-39) and Mark 8 (Mark 8:1-9), but not by Luke or John.
Now, two thousand and twenty (2020) yrs later since Jesus’ departure and promise to come back, one of his great grand sons is not going to feed 5000 people amidist this Covid19 global pandemic, no, he will feed an extra 500 people, not to challenge him, but just to appriciate his favor upon him, his family and the world atlarge!
As a way of extending their generosity to Ugandans, the Ruparelia Foundation has announced that they will feed 5500 families that have been affected by the COVID-19 Presidential Directives that barred them from movements to fend for their families.
President Museveni this week announced a national lockdown, after directing all Ugandans to stay at their homes as a way of preventing the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
As a result of the Presidential Directives, many families have since been affected especially by hunger, since many family heads can no longer afford buying food, because they’re not working.
It is for that reason that tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia family, through his son Rajiv Ruperelia, who is the patron of the Ruparelia Foundation, came up with the initiative of helping to feed these affected families by donating 5500 packages which include food, soap and other basic necessities.
According to Rajiv, the Ruparelia Group’s managing director, each package to the said families will consist of 1kg of posho, 1kg of beans and a bar of soap.
Rajiv said the beneficiaries will be picked by his team that will soon be dispatched across the 12 parishes of the 14 that make Kampala City.
“We have shared a distribution model with our ground team. We have selected 12 parishes of the 14 that make Kampala; those are the ones we shall support for now,” revealed Rajiv.
The Ruparelia Foundation also called upon other private sector players and individuals to come out and support the vulnerable communities to cope up with the hard times being caused by COVID-19.
Ruparelia foundation is known for supporting numerous corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities across the country.
