Ruparelia Group’s VCON Scoops Juicy Deal Worth Ugx34b From IUIU University

Ruparelia Group’s Vcon, one of the few capable civil engineering firms in East Africa has been awarded a $9.1 million (UGX 34 billion) contract to erect the Faculty of Engineering at the Mbale-based Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).

The infrastructure under this project includes the main faculty block and the hostels.

Vcon represented by Ruparelia Group chairman Sudhir Ruparelia and IUIU principal Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda signed the contract last week after a no-objection letter by the IsDB, the funder.

According to the agreement, the project is expected to be completed within 15 months.

Speaking after the signing, Prof. Gyagenda said the project was long overdue and asked the contractor to complete the works within the agreed time frame and adhere to the agreed specifications and standards.

“This project is very important as science and technology is the driver of growth in the country and the entire world,” Gyagenda said.

Dr Sudhir assured the university that the project would be completed on time without compromising standards and quality.

“Currently, our company has 11 ongoing construction projects and this is going to be added on with enough technical capacity,” he said.
