Mabira: Several people are feared to have perished and others sustained grave injuries after getting involved in a nasty accident that occurred in Mabira forest, along the Kampala Jinja highway on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the tragedy occurred after a trailer truck that was coming from Jinja heading to Kampala lost control and veered off its lane, ramming into two commuter taxis and two boda-bodas that had passengers. By the time we went to press, the number of the dead and injured hadn’t been established by the police yet, although locals feared that at least 12 people could have lost lives in the accident.
The boda-boda riders and passenger reportedly died on the spot while other victims in the taxis who sustained injuries were rushed to Kawolo Hospital. At the time of filing this story traffic police officers were yet to reach to the accident scene, although rescuers were doing everything possible to pull victims out of the wreckages.
