Security forces in Uganda have successfully foiled a series of coordinated dawn attacks launched by unidentified assailants across several areas within the Rwenzori West and Rwenzori East police regions.

According to a statement from the Uganda Police Force, the attackers simultaneously targeted multiple districts, including Bunyangabu, Bundibugyo (specifically Kakhuuka Parish in Sindira Sub-county), Fort Portal City near Nyakasura School and Canon Apollo Core PTC and Kabarole District.

In Rwenzori East, the same group attempted assaults on Kasese Police Barracks and Rugendabara Police Station in Kasese District.

Police confirmed that several of the assailants were neutralized and many others arrested during the counter-operations. While some officers sustained injuries, no fatalities were reported among security personnel.

“The operation by security agencies is ongoing, aimed at pursuing and apprehending all those responsible for these attacks,” the police said, adding that details on the number of suspects captured and other operational outcomes will be released in due course.
Since then, authorities have intensified patrols and intelligence operations in the Rwenzori region to restore calm and prevent further incidents.
