Kasangati, Uganda – May 21, 2025: Security forces on Tuesday conducted a search at the home of former Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) spokesperson, Charles Twiine, in Kasangati, following a week-long mystery surrounding his whereabouts.

Twiine was reported missing shortly after he was summoned by police’s IGP Byakagaba last week. According to sources close to the family, there had been no communication from him until he suddenly resurfaced at his home on Tuesday.

However, his return was not a private affair. Twine was escorted by a group of plainclothes detectives and counter-terrorism officers who proceeded to conduct a thorough search of his residence. The purpose of the search remains unclear, and no official statement has been issued by the police regarding the operation.

Kate Kabagenyi, Twiine’s wife, witnessed the search but noted that nothing was taken from their home. She added that although she briefly saw her husband, security operatives did not allow the two to speak.

The former CID spokesperson, once a vocal figure in law enforcement, has recently kept a low profile after being reassigned from his police duties to Parliamentary police. His sudden disappearance and guarded return under armed escort have sparked speculation and concern within the security and media circles.

Authorities are yet to issue a formal explanation regarding the circumstances of his summons, disappearance, or the subsequent home search.
