Sentamu Brace Inspires Vipers To First Win, Arua Hills Smash UPDF

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League defending champions, Vipers SC finally registered their first win of the campaign on Friday at St Mary’s Kitende with a 3-0 victory over Maroons.

Milton Karisa broke the deadlock for the venoms which is Vipers’ first goal of the season having failed to score in the first two matches.

Karisa’s 19th minute goal was backed by Yunus Sentamu’s double in the second half to seal the three points for the venoms.

Maroons came hoping to stun Vipers just like they did to KCCA a week ago but this time luck was not on their side.

The venoms goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza continued to display class with a good save to deny Fredrick Kigozi’s stinging shot a moment after Karisa’s goal.

Sentamu then doubled the hosts lead on 65 minutes with a clever flick off a quality Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye delivery.

The striker scored his second within seconds, brilliantly controlling a pass from Karisa before sidestepping his last man and beating Tamale to the goalkeeper’s low left.

The win moves Vipers two places up to 12th place on four points from three matches while Maroons seat fifth on the log with eight points.

Meanwhile New comers Arua Hills are still proving hard to beat after mashing UPDF 3-0 at Barifa stadium.

Captain Rashid Toha opened the score from the spot following a foul on Allan Mugalu in the box and then hit new Cristiano Ronaldo celebration.

Gadaffi Kacancu and Gadaffi Wahab nettted the other goals for the Leopards registering their third consecutive win at home.

The Kongolo missed several opportunities to extend their lead when Mugalu’s brilliant strike hit the woodwork in the 34th minute but they continued pressing the visitors for the second and Samuel Ssekamate’s shot splashed away by UPDF goalkeeper Simon mabuya towards the break.

Gadaffi Kacancu doubled the lead for the Leopards in 67th minute with a superb strike past Mabuya putting the game in total control of the hosts.

However Kongolo boys were reduce to ten with Defender Bright Vuni given a second bookable therefore matching orders.

Moments later, Substitute Gadaffi Wahab netted the third for Arua Hills from the sport. UPDF was awarded a penalty in the dying moments but goalkeeper Richard Anyama punched it away ensuring a clean sheet for the home side.

Arua Hills now seat second on the table with ten points from four games while UPDF are eleventh with five points.
