United States authorities were immediately informed about the terrorist attack perpetrated on the Cuban Embassy, Ambassador Lianys Torres said on Monday.
September 25, 2023.

“After last night’s terrorist attack on our Embassy was perpetrated, we immediately contacted US authorities, who were given access to the Mission to take samples of the Molotov cocktails,” Torres wrote in his account on X, formerly Twitter.

Several solidarity organizations and social movements immediately expressed their condemnation of this new act of aggression against the Cuban representation in Washington DC, the second in the last three years.

“It is an irony that Cuba is unfairly on a list of terrorist countries and at the same time, on American soil, terrorist acts are committed against the Cuban Embassy and diplomatic personnel,” the Bridges of Love movement said in a statement.

The organization emphasized in the text that it is “extremely worrying that this terrorist act occurs on the last day of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel’s visit to the United States.” Furthermore, “it is very sad and disturbing” that while the president yesterday advocated for the construction of bridges of love between the two countries before hundreds of Americans, a few hours later “a terrorist threw two explosive devices” at Cuba’s diplomatic representation.

“We demand that the full weight of the law be brought to bear on the guilty,” the José Martí Cultural Association of the United States stated, after learning that on Sunday night, an individual threw two Molotov cocktails at the diplomatic headquarters, according to Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

They do not know what harm to do to try to tarnish the general opinion of the resounding success of the Cuban President’s recent visit, the group stressed.

NEMO (No to the Blockade) also protested against “the savage attack with Molotov cocktails” at the headquarters of the Cuban diplomatic representation and recalled that while Cuba is kept on “a spurious list of promoters of terrorism, our country’s embassy in the American capital was hit by two attacks in this triennium.

The co-president of the National Network of Solidarity with Cuba, published a call to bring flowers as a sign of support for the Cuban Embassy in this capital this afternoon, at 5:30 p.m., local time.

“End terrorism against Cuba,” “Let Cuba live,” the activist wrote on social networks.
