Masaka: The Police have a arrested a shameless sex pest over allegations of defiling at least 30  girls in Masaka District.

The suspect identified as Steven Sendi, a resident of Wabikere village, Mukungwe Sub-county in Masaka District, was arrested over the weekend after several parents filed complaints at the police about him, alleging that he had defiled their daughters.

At the time of his arrest, Sendi had allegedly defiled four girls who are daughters of his neighbours.

One of the parents said she suspected something was wrong after realizing that her daughter smelling awfully and walking with difficulty.  When the mother interrogated the girl, she confessed that she had been sleeping with Sendi after he promised to give her money and sweets.

According to the parents, Sendi had become a raging sex pest on the village, who had defiled several girls, after luring them into sexual acts by using sweets and money.

“My daughter told home that Sendi told her he would always give them sweets and money if they accepted to sleep with him.  He forbade them from  telling anyone about it and that he would marry them when they grew up,” one of the affected mothers told this website.

She added that by the time of his arrest, Sendi had defiled almost 30 young girls all in the same village.

Gerald Lutaaya, the area LC I Chairperson said that; “I talked with Sendi. He did not deny the allegations. He instead told me that I should talk with the parents of the defiled victims such that he can reach an understanding with them and that he is ready to apologize to them.”

He urged parents to spare time and listen to their children such that they can know what is happening in their lives so as to avoid such horrible situations.

The affected parents have since pleaded with Hon. Rose Rose Namayanja Nsereko, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) treasurer and the area Woman Member of Parliament Babirye Kabanda to intervene in the matter such that the defiled victims can get justice

However, when he was asked about the allegations, Sendi denied defiling any girl, saying that many of his neighbours hate him and that is why they are coming up with such malicious allegations.

According to Shida Juliet, who heads the Family and Child Protection Unit at Masaka Central Police Station, so far at least 71  girls have been defiled and or sexually abused in Masaka district since the start of this year, although the vice skyrocketed during the COVID-19 lockdown. an accessible web community
