The fight against alleged land grabbing in Wakiso District has intensified after another suspect was arraigned before the Wakiso Chief Magistrates Court and remanded over charges arising from the alleged unlawful occupation and destruction of property on disputed land.
Tamale Abdu was charged with forcible entry, destruction of crops and theft following investigations conducted by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit in collaboration with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Criminal Investigations Directorate.
The court remanded Tamale until October 13, 2026, as investigations into the allegations continue.
According to the prosecution, Tamale is among several suspects who have been arrested and charged over alleged offences connected to land comprised in Busiro Block 514, Plots 6, 10 and 12 in Kasanje Town Council, Wakiso District.
The suspects are accused of falsely claiming ownership of a kibanja on the land and allegedly using force to gain access to and take control of the property.
Prosecution alleges that between October 30 and November 4, 2025, Tamale and others assembled a large group of people and violently entered the disputed land, which was occupied by Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd.
The group allegedly proceeded to destroy tree plantations, coffee trees and other natural trees on the property.
The prosecution further alleges that nine motors belonging to coffee milling machines were stolen from the premises.
The stolen equipment is reportedly the property of Kamuli Industrial Estates Ltd and is valued at approximately Shs500 million.
Tamale’s case adds to a series of prosecutions involving individuals accused of attempting to take control of the same property through alleged unlawful means.
The latest arraignment is part of ongoing efforts by anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute cases involving alleged land grabbing, unlawful entry, destruction of property and theft.
The accused persons remain presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.
