Kayunga: Kayunga District Chairperson, Mr.Muhammad Ffefekka Serubogo was on Wednesday morning found dead with his body hanging on a jack fruit tree behind his house which has been termed ‘suicide’.
The deceased was a member of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) and recently sworn-in as the District Chairperson Kayunga District after winning the Jan 14 elections.
Meanwhile, residents in Kayunga who rushed to the crime scene, have since doubted their chairman’s death saying that their leader may have been murdered not hang himself as alleged.
Some of the residents speaking anonymously noted that the deceased used a walking stick because he had a disability. “But the stick is not anywhere near the scene. This means that he was brought here, either alive or dead,” the locals pointed out.
According to the statement released by NUP, the death of their leader is “incredibly sad and shocking.”
NUP also suspects that their leader might have been murdered since, “He has been very vocal against corruption and land grabbing. We hope investigations will be done independently to establish the real cause of this shocking incident.”
