A group of gifted young footballers from St. Mary’s Kitende and St. Noah Girls School have set off for Ghana to represent Uganda at the CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025—an inspiring journey flagged off by Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, underscoring the country’s growing investment in youth empowerment through sports and education.

The players, drawn from two of Uganda’s leading sports-oriented schools, are not just heading into a competition—they are stepping onto a platform that promotes leadership, discipline, and personal growth. The CAF African Schools Championship, a groundbreaking initiative by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is designed to merge sport with education and life skills development across the continent.

In a send-off ceremony filled with pride and encouragement, Speaker Among hailed the young athletes as “exceptionally talented boys and girls,” encouraging them to fly Uganda’s flag high. “Go and make Uganda proud!” she wrote in a message shared on her social media platforms.

Her remarks captured the sentiment of a nation that views sport not merely as entertainment, but as a transformative tool for unlocking the potential of its youth.

This milestone moment also reflects the continued efforts of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), under the stewardship of President Hon. Eng. Moses Magogo. FUFA’s focus on school-based competitions and grassroots programs has unearthed some of the country’s most promising talent, opening doors for young Ugandans to pursue both academic and athletic success.

Speaker Among also acknowledged President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s consistent support for sports development, particularly his role in expanding infrastructure such as stadiums, training grounds, and school-based facilities—critical foundations for nurturing the next generation.

As the students head to Accra, they carry with them more than football boots and jerseys—they carry the hopes of a country that believes in its youth. Uganda’s participation in the 2025 edition of the CAF African Schools Championship is not only a shot at continental glory, but a strong statement about the nation’s direction: investing in young people, celebrating their dreams, and providing platforms that prepare them for leadership far beyond the football pitch.

With pride, passion, and purpose, these young athletes are set to inspire a new generation—showing that when talent meets opportunity, the future is limitless.
