Start Packing Your Things Before It’s Too Late – Lukwago Warns Kamya

By Samuel Opio

Kampala City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has challenged Minister Betty Kamya to start parking her luggage to exit the juicy seat she has held since 2016 before it’s too late.

According to Lukwago, every man reaps what he sows therefore if Kamya still expects to get sympathy then she is mistaken.

Lukwago says Kamya was hired as a mafia and the role she was meant to do no longer exists since the appointee is handling it himself.

This comments came in following the unrealistic resignation of the Authority Executive Director Mrs. Jennifer Musisi that threw the entire country into mixed reactions. In a letter to president Museveni, Musisi announced she had resigned her job and would cease working for KCCA on December 15 2018.

However Lukwago said that her resignation didn’t come as a surprise.

“I expected it because of her arrogance. She was so much obsessed with impunity and never respected anyone,” Lukwago told journalists at his office at City Hall on Tuesday.

For the past seven years, Lukwago and Musisi have been at loggerheads as the KCCA technical wing and political wings fought.

On a number of occasions, Musisi has snubbed council meetings well as the KCCA technical wing headed by Musisi has refused to implement recommendations and decisions by the council headed by her nemesis Lukwago.

In the past, Musisi regretted taking up the KCCA job and her tenure has been marred by endless bickering between her technical wing and the political wing of KCCA.

Before joining KCCA, Musisi worked as commissioner legal and board affairs at the Uganda Revenue Authority. She has been one of the highest earning civil servants taking home more than Shs 40m per month.

It should be noted that President Museveni first appointed Musisi in 2011 on a three-year contract. The contract was renewed for the third term in April 2017 amidst rumours that Musisi had submitted her resignation during her second term after being accused by some National Resistance Movement (NRM) politicians including Museveni himself for causing massive electoral loss for the ruling party in the city due to her high handedness approach.
