Kampala: StarTimes has officially acquired live broadcasting rights for the highly anticipated African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023.
Total Energies AFCON 2023 is a highly anticipated sports tournament that will take place in Ivory Coast from 13 January 2024 until 11 February 2024 and will be only available on the StarTimes channels across all broadcasting platforms in Africa.
With the local StarTimes UPL season taking a break for the next four (4) weeks, StarTimes will be offering its audiences and commercial partners the live experience of all 52 matches of AFCON 2023.
“We are delighted to announce that StarTimes has secured the broadcasting rights for AFCON 2023,” said Aldrine Nsubuga, Vice President at StarTimes.
“This represents a significant milestone for us as we continue to bring the best in sports entertainment to our viewers. AFCON is a celebration of African talent and passion, and we are proud to play a key role in delivering this experience to homes across the continent” Nsubuga added.
“In its promise of making all Premium events available to all Ugandans with no barrier of high cost of subscription fees, StarTimes will broadcast all the AFCON 2023 matches live on Sports Premium, Sports life and Luganda commentary will be available on Sanyuka Prime” he further noted.
According to StarTimes, the matches will be available in lower package like Copa bouquet for antenna users and Special bouquet for Satellite users. In addition the mentioned channels, the matches will also be available on StarTimes ON mobile streaming App.
As the exclusive live broadcaster, StarTimes’ investment in the rights for AFCON 2023 and CAF Events reflects the company’s dedication to supporting and promoting African sports.
By securing these rights, StarTimes aims to bring the thrill and excitement of AFCON to an even broader audience, fostering a sense of unity and pride across the continent.
