State House Anti Corruption Unit Arrests Eight Over Uttering False Documents & Conspiracy To Commit A Felony

The State House Anti Corruption Unit together with the Uganda Police on 11/11/2022 arraigned at Buganda Road Court, Kizito Leonard & Muganiira Apollo a Community Dev’t Officer at Bukomera TC, Kiboga district on charges of uttering false documents & conspiracy to commit a felony. They were remanded till 14/11/2022.

The accused allegedly presented false documents to the Administrator General with intention of fraudulently acquiring certificates of no objection for 8 deceased persons, claiming that the families of the deceased agreed, they be given the letters of administration where as not.

In a related event, the Unit arrested and arraigned 6 teachers to the Kanungu Chief Magistrates Court on charges of forgery & uttering false documents.

The accused allegedly forged appointment letters & posting instructions purportedly signed from Ministry of Education and Sports.

”The accused have been using the forged documents to teach in government aided institutions like; Nyakatare Tech Inst, Bishop Comboni Coll & Kihihi HS. In total,they have caused Gov’t a loss of UGX500m in salaries & allowances paid to them. They were also remanded till 17/11/2022.

State House Anti Corruption Unit has registered a huge success against corruption and has been able to recover over UGX30 billion in taxpayers’ money through prosecutions, and other measures used to compel corrupt officials to refund embezzled public funds.

The Unit has so far investigated different public servants for graft, including members of parliament, accounting officers, security personnel, and directors of several government agencies and commissions among other Gov’t big fish.

In addition to the above, the Unit has also ensured the safe return of over 600 Ugandans stranded after being trafficked to Arab countries.

It has also conclusively investigated over 10,000 cases and interdicted over 200 government workers from public offices. SH-ACU was established under Article 99(4) of the constitution of Uganda, which gives the President executive powers to either directly or indirectly perform his duties or through officers subordinate to him.

Launched on 10th December 2018, SH-ACU coordinates with all constitutionally mandated agencies to ensure that complaints raised by citizens are resolved. The Unit also acts as a link between H.E. the President, citizens, and Anti- Corruption agencies in relation to Anti-Corruption issues.
