First Lady Janet Museveni, who is also the minister for Education and Sports, has defended the decision why she decided that the 2019/2020 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results be released at money Doctor, Sudhir Ruparelia’s Kampala Parents School tomorrow Friday, with no hopes of regrets to ney sayers.

The PLE results will be released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) tomorrow Friday January 17, 2020 and designating KPS as the venue for the official release had started raising eyebrows.

However, the Minister of Education has today explained to Parliament why her Ministry together with Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) reached a decision to host the event at Kampala Parents Main Hall, saying Sudhir’s School Hall has better AC and other facilities than any Gov’t school and yet he has offered it free of charge. She also said that the AC of the previous venue where they have been holding the event is now not working and therefore couldn’t risk people’s lives putting them in a room with no AC.

Lady Janet was tasked to explain on Thursday by Budiope West legislator Robert Musoke who queried the sudden change of venue from President’s office to Kampala Parents School.

The first Lady, flanked by her junior ministers; John Chrysostom Muyingo (Higher Education), Rosemary Seninde (Primary Education) and Hamson Obua (Sports) was appearing before the house committee on education and sports to present the Ministry’s budget frame work paper for 2020/2021.

She told the legislators that the change of venue was caused by the damage of Air Conditioning system at President’s office hall which as a Ministry they think wouldn’t be convenient to host people in such an environment.

But at the same time, the Ministry wasn’t willing to pay for a venue anywhere in Kampala to release the results and that is how they found Sudhir’s school which offered them a free space to conduct the exercise.
“Kampala Parents is a primary school,it doesn’t charge us, we are not paying anything to release the results there. We normally use the President’s office hall because we are strictly not willing to pay for halls when we have government halls. But it has had problems with its air conditioning and we can’t put people in a place that has no fresh air. So we were looking for other places where we can go and yet not pay that is how we got into Kampala Parents,” Janet explained.

The function for official release of the 2019 PLE results will start at 10:00AM on Friday and will be presided over by the First Lady Janet Museveni..
