SWAT Security Guard Shoots One Dead, Injures Another

Kampala, Uganda:  The Police in Kampala have arrested a SWAT security guard for shooting one person dead and injuring another person on  Wednesday evening. The suspect has been identified as Caleb Muhwezi, a guard with SWAT Security Company, a private security company. At the time of the incident Muhwezi had been deployed to guard Pioneer Building along Ben Kiwanuka Street. However, his duty station got splattered with blood after he shot dead Brendah Bukoye, 36, a resident of Nsambya Railway and wounded another person identified as Anita Nanyonjo, a student of Kampala University, who was rushed to  Mulago hospital  in critical condition.

The deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owesigyire said that “The suspect Caleb Muhwezi, was arrested, weapon recovered and he is yet to give his statement upon what happened.” He stressed that the suspect will be charged with murder and attempted murder vide SD Ref No. 81/23/01/2019 of Central Police Station when the investigations are completed.

The eyewitnesses we talked to revealed that Muhwezi was under the influence of alcohol because he released the gunfire at two at exactly 8:00pm when people were still busy during the evening shopping  hours.
