Jubilation filled Simu Primary School grounds on Sunday as residents of Bulambuli District gathered to witness a major empowerment drive led by the Office of the National Chairman (ONC). Senior Presidential Advisor and ONC head, Hajjati Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, presided over the distribution of startup equipment aimed at improving household incomes and advancing grassroots economic transformation.

The intervention is part of the ONC’s ongoing nationwide wealth creation campaign, which targets vulnerable groups—particularly women and youth—with tools for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

Hundreds of beneficiaries from across the district received an assortment of livelihood-enhancing equipment. Items distributed included salon kits, welding machines, tailoring equipment, car washing machines, agricultural inputs, brick-making tools, popcorn machines, and more.

Among the groups supported were Jewa Youth Group Association, Bumwambu Farmers, Kagolo Salon Association, Masaka Youth Association, Buluganya Coffee Growers, and Modern Car Washers.

While addressing the crowd, Hajjati Namyalo revealed that her visit to Bulambuli was the result of a concerted effort by Elgon County MP Hon. Ignatius Wamakuyu Mudimi and aspiring Woman MP Sarah Nambozo Wekomba.

“Mudimi and Sarah came to my office and insisted that I come to Bulambuli. We had initially planned to visit another district, but they passionately advocated for their people and even used their own resources to procure some of these items,” Namyalo said.

She emphasized that the ONC’s mission is grounded in President Yoweri Museveni’s vision of inclusive economic transformation and called upon residents to rally behind both Mudimi and Wekomba in the upcoming NRM primaries.

Speaking to Bugisu Intellectual, Hon. Mudimi expressed optimism that the donated tools would significantly improve the livelihoods of the district’s residents.

“I urge my people not to sit at home waiting for campaign handouts of one thousand shillings. Those won’t take you far. Let us focus on sustainable empowerment using tools that generate income,” he said.

Mudimi also used the occasion to thank the people of Elgon County for their unwavering support throughout his 20-year tenure in Parliament. He called upon them to endorse him once again in the NRM primaries slated for July 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, Sarah Nambozo Wekomba extended heartfelt gratitude to Hajjati Namyalo for responding to their invitation and delivering on the community’s long-standing appeals.

“These items are going to change lives. I appeal to all beneficiaries to make the most of them. You’ve been asking for help—this is your answer,” Wekomba said.

She further encouraged unity and collective responsibility, reminding residents that their ties with national leaders were instrumental in securing such support.

“To those who didn’t receive today, don’t despair—your turn will come. And for those who did, use this opportunity to uplift your families and communities,” she added.

The event marked a significant milestone in Bulambuli’s local development journey and signaled renewed momentum in the ONC’s mission to extend economic tools to Uganda’s underserved populations.
