Tokyo: Uganda’s David Emong Wins Bronze In Paralympic Games

Uganda’s David Emong has done it again in the Men’s 1500m-T46 race at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Tokyo after coming third with a personal best of 3:53.51 to claim the bronze medal.

Russian Paralympic Committee’s Aleksandr Laremchuk won the race in 3:52.08 with Bulgaria’s Hristiyan Stoyanov coming second in 3:52.63.

It has been five years since David Emong won Uganda the first Paralympic medal, a silver in the 1500m T46 race at the Estádio Olímpico Joao Havelange in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Emong is among the four participants Uganda took at this year’s Paralympics in Tokyo.

Swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe, 14, youngest at the games, set her personal best but missed out on a place in the final of the Women’s 100m breaststroke.

Runner Peace Oroma will be in action in the Women’s 100m T13 and Women’s 400m T13 on August 31 and September 2 in that order.

Badminton player Ritah Asiimwe will be in action on September 1 in the Women’s Singles SU5.
