FORT PORTAL, TOORO – The Tooro Kingdom is mourning the passing of Prince Humphrey Mirembe Amooti, a grandson of Omukama Kyebambe and son to Prince Daniel Ogene Atwooki. Prince Mirembe, a distinguished public servant and revered royal family member, will be laid to rest this Friday, 20th June 2025, at the Karambi Royal Burial Grounds in Fort Portal.
The burial program began with a vigil on Tuesday 18th June at his residence in Kisaasi Kyanja, Kampala. This will be followed by a church service on Wednesday 19th June at 11:00 AM at Redeemed of the Lord Evangelistic Church, Makerere, before the body is transported to Fort Portal.

An official vigil will be held later on Wednesday evening at Harukoto, hosted at the residence of Omubito Araali Switizer Kaijomurubi.
The final send-off will take place on Friday, 20th June, beginning with a church service at Harukoto at 12:00 PM, followed by the burial at the Karambi Royal Tombs, a resting place reserved for members of the Tooro royal family.

Prince Mirembe served in the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) from the early 1990s until 2002, where he earned a reputation for professionalism and commitment to public service.


He is survived by nine children and grandchildren, who now carry forward his legacy. He leaves behind his siblings:

The Kingdom, family, and well-wishers continue to celebrate his life and mourn his passing as preparations for his royal burial conclude.
