Tooro United Qualifies To Uganda Premier League After Smashing Kigezi Home Boys 1-0

Kampala: Fort Portal based Tooro United has bounced back into Star-Times Uganda Premier League after winning a decisive game against Kigezi Home Boys played at Wankulukuku Stadium today’s evening.

Tooro’s promotion to Premier League came after a penalty kick scored by Marvin Oshaba noting that they went into the final game of the regular season with a two-point advantage over Proline FC which means the club needed only three points to triumphantly enter the league.

Tooro’s promotion simply means they have finished on top of the Rwenzori Group with 31 points while Proline and Nyamityobora are the two teams that will vie for the playoff spots in the group.

Speaking to our reporter after the conclusion of the game, the team president Ms, Alice Namatovu attributed the victory to cooperation amongst players, a focused coach and hardworking citing that even during the first lockdown, the team never rested but continued training.

”It’s a joyful day for us and we really thank God that our hardworking has bared fruits, here we are back in Premier League,  i ask you to watch out, we are going to crash every team in this new league… let them stay warned…..we have come determined than we have ever been….” said jubilant Namatovu.

It was not an easy season but am happy that I have fulfilled my goal.”

After jubilations, team patron dubbed Fort Portal MP, Hon Alex Ruhunda briefed the team and bought Oshaba’s victorious goal one million and two hundred fifty-thousand Uganda shillings (UGX1.25M) an amount that was shared amongst players.

The Honourable MP also promised to contribute to their welfare on accommodation and foods once the club permanently relocates to Fort portal city. ”For me, I invest in our city, once you relocate to our Fort portal tourism city and make it your home base then we will see how to sustain you,” MP Ruhunda plegded.
