Troubled Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Sheds Tears As Watford Punishes Man Utd

The Norwegian head coach admitted in his Friday press conference that he had reverted to the “dark side” in training this week to try and shore up his defence.

They had the worst defensive record of any side inside the top 10 heading into this weekend and faced a crucial game against a struggling Watford side.

The Hornets had won just two of their previous 10 league games and had struggled in front of goal of late.

But any hopes of United keeping a clean sheet were quickly broken in the first half.

David de Gea came to the rescue early on after saving a spot-kick from Ismaila Sarr.

Josh King soon found the opening for the hosts though with Sarr eventually finding the back of the net just before the break.

United players trudged down the tunnel at half-time with their tails between their legs.

Donny van de Beek managed to pull one back after coming on for Scott McTominay, but Harry Maguire’s second yellow all but ruined any hopes of a comeback.

Keown was watching on and kept a watchful eye on Solskjaer’s antics on the touchline and noticed how upset the United boss looked.

“Looking at Solskjaer, he almost has tears in his eyes,” he said.

“I am not trying to rub this in but he has that looks that says ‘when it rains it pours’.

“There was a look on his face where I thought, is this coming to an end?”

United then threw in the towel in stoppage time as Watford fired twice in a matter of minutes to record a remarkable 4-1 victory.
