Two Pupils Burnt To Death As Fire Guts Kasaana Junior Primary School In Masaka

Kampala: Two top-class pupils at Kasaana Junior Primary School in Masaka City have died in a fire that gutted their dormitory at around 4 am on Monday.

According to preliminary police reports, the fire was caused by a short circuit in the dormitory as the school matron was reportedly charging her phone at night.

The Acting Police Spokesman in the Southern region, Jamada Wandera, revealed that the two children died, while other kids sustained serious injuries and were initially rushed to Masaka Regional Hospital but were later referred to Kampala for further management.

Following the incident,  parents, relatives, and friends flocked to the school and hospital to get information and desperately seeking about their children’s condition as local authorities and school staff tried to provide support and assistance to the affected families.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established however authorities revealed they have kicked off investigators focusing on electrical faults and other potential sources that could have caused the massive fire.
