Two Remanded To Luzira For Dropping Coffin At Parliament

Buganda road court has on Thursday remanded two youth activists to Luzira prisons for dropping a Coffin at Parliament last Monday during protest.

Luta Ferdinand,a Boda-boda rider  and Achom Rebecca all residents of Mbuya zone in Nakawa Division, Kampala District were  charged  with Inciting Violence by the office of directorate  of public persecutions.

On Monday morning, a group of youth activists stormed parliament of Uganda protesting rampant women murders and Kidnaps.

They accused parliament and Uganda Police for not doing enough to curb the vice.

In retaliation, Parliamentary police arrested two ring leaders and were later detained at central police station.

While appearing before Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Robert Mukanza,the two denied the charges and were sent on two weeks remand as the investigations continue.

State paraded evidence that on June 4th/2018 at Parliament Avenue in Kampala, without lawful excuse the accused persons and others still at large, did an act calculated to lead to destruction or damage of Property.

But their lawyer, one Lumu Araali requested for their bail on grounds that it was their constitutional right, but the Magistrate declined to give them partial freedom.

They were consequently remanded to Luzira Prisons till June 20th 2018 when they will return to hear a ruling on their bail application.
