Kampala: The Police in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which prominent businessman Gaster Lule Ntakke’s son-in-law committed suicide at his home in Kabowa, a city suburb.

Arthur Kizito, also a city businessman, allegedly strangled himself to death on Thursday  night and his body was found hanging inside his house on his belt this morning. Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said that  “Kizito’s body was hanging on a cargo brown-belt fixed through a ceiling hole. He was dressed in khaki shorts, a white vest and a black pair of stockings.” Kizito was a renowned businessman who owned several shops in Kabowa, and according to locals, he did not have health or business challenges.  “Our Kabowa police was informed by area leaders about Kizito’s suspected suicide. They had seen him hanging dead through the window. Police visited the scene and we had to break bedroom door to gain access to the bathroom,” Owoyesigyire added.

Initial findings indicate that Kizito used a red wooden table to climb and hang himself.  His body was later taken to Mulago city mortuary for postmortem. Kizito was Ntakke’s son-in-law, having married one of his daughters. However, it is not yet clear whether he was staying with his wife or not and  if he was occupying his house alone or with other people. The police are currently conducting investigations to establish what could have forced Kizito to end his life and if there was any form  of foul play prior to his demise. Tycoon Ntakke is yet to issue a statement about the this tragic incident.
