Kampala: Uganda’s billionaire and business mogul, who also doubles as Nepalis Ambassador to Uganda and Chairman Ruparelia Group, H.E Dr.Sudhir Ruparelia, despite his extremely busy schedules causedw by his passion for hard work, a few days ago once again went for voluntarily and routine testing for COVID-19, just to be sure of his status.
Well, the good news is that, East Africa’s finest is just as normal as the you hear the word itself. This was confirmed by his Covid-19 results released yesterday by Uganda’s ministry of Health, and as we speak now, Sudhir is on cloud 9, playing his golf.
According to the test slip seen by TheSpy Uganda, Dr.Sudhir tested from Makerere College of Health Sciences’ Department of Immunology and Molecular Biology.
This was after Ministry of Health confirmed 244 new cases of COVID-19 from tests done on 21 September 2020, raising cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to 6,712 as total recoveries shoot to 2,778 while total death skyrocket to 64 cases.
Minutes after testing, Sudhir shared a moment with our reporter and it is through this channel that he urged all Ugandans to continue the strict observance of the government guidelines on COVID-19, saying that in the interim, this remains the best option of avoiding catching and spreading the disease.
He said, “Covid-19 is here with us and it will be for a couple of other months. We have to live with COVID-19 for at least the next 18 months when experts say a vaccine may be possible. It is important to observe all the SOPs issued by the government both at home and out of home as well as to practice extra personal discipline. We need to fight this together and for each other.”
Just like the leading business operator, he could not end the conversation without commenting about the pandemic’s impact on the Ugandan economy, he noted that given the circumstances it was important to strike a balance between the economy and healthcare concerns as both were equally important.
“I would like to commend the government’s progressive efforts to re-opening the economy. In the same spirit I would like to urge the business community, employers, school owners, employees, among others to fully cooperate with the government by enforcing all the SOPs at our premises,” he said.
