The second leg of the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup resumed on Saturday that saw Edward Golola’s Tooro United advance to the next round after overcoming Kataka FC in a 3-1 victory at Buhinga Stadium, Fort portal.
Tooro United lost the first leg 1-0 at Mbale Municipal Council Grounds but they came into the second leg determined to overturn the results.
Ponsiano Ssegonja and a brace from Marvin Oshaba lifted the Fort portal side to the round of 16.
Elsewhere, Frank Kalanda’s 89th-minute goal from the spot pushed Express FC into the next round.
Kalanda stepped up for the spot-kick after Martin Kizza was fouled in the area by Kyetume defender.
The first leg against Kyetume had ended 2-2 at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru so the 1-0 win made the aggregate 3-2 and enough to advance to the next level.
Meanwhile, Onduparaka edged Luweero United 1-0 at Kasana Grounds with super substitute Alli Mukiibi becoming the hero of the day in the 81st minute.
This was Mukiibi’s first goal for the club, thanks to Joel’s killer pass. However, the hosts had been reduced to 10 men by the referee after Allan Busobozi had been given a red card in the early minutes of the second half.
And finally, Police FC brutally eliminated the big league newcomers Calvary 5-1 away from home and advanced on aggregate 10-1 after the first leg ended 5-0 at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The competition returns on Sunday 11th April 2021 with Ndejje University FC hosting SC Villa.
