Uganda Cup: KCCA Overcome Nyamityobora FC 4-2 In First Leg

KCCA FC defeated Nyamityobora FC at 4-2 goals in the first leg of the round of 32 of Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup on Wednesday at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Bright Anukani broke the deadlock in the second minute of the game stunningly outside of the 18-yard box.

Seven minutes later, vice-captain Julius Poloto struck a beauty from outside the box to double the lead for the Kasasiro boys.

Clinton Kamugisha pulled back one for the visitors to make it 2-1 in the 32nd minute due to poor goalkeeping from Charles Lukwago.

Twelve minutes later, Sadat Anaku slotted home the third with a spectacular strike at the edge of the 18-yard box.

Charles Lwanga should have scored the fourth for the hosts but his header from a beautifully crossed ball by Poloto hit the woodwork in the 38th minute.

At halftime, KCCA’s head coach Morley Byekwaso made the first change with Joseph Kizza replacing Sadat Anaku. The teenager brought life to the game with his quick dribbles past opponents.

Byekwaso made a Tripple substitution bringing on Keziron Kizito, Steven Sserwadda and Samuel Ssenyonjo to replace Ashraf Mugume, Bright Anukani and Charles Lwanga respectively.

Moments later super substitute Ssenyonjo headed in KCCA’s 4th goal in 83rd minute from a beautifully struck corner kick from another substitute Joseph Bukenya.

KCCA FC will now travel to Mbarara for the second leg on Saturday 10th April 2021 at Kakyeka Stadium however Nyamityobora needs at least a 2-0 win to eliminate KCCA.

Another scenario is that should the second leg end 3-1 in favour of the hosts then KCCA will be out of the tournament on away goals rule basis.

It is important to note that Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup started at round of 32 due to the Covid-19 pandemic with only the Star-Times Uganda Premier League clubs and FUFA Big League clubs involved.

Also, it will be a two-legged tournament except the final.
