Uganda Has Lost Unreplaceable Key Leader-Kadaga Eulogizes Speaker Oulanyah

Rt Honorable Deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Alitwara Kadaga also former speaker has joined a couple of Ugandans to show sadness over speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s death.

Oulanyah’s death has today been announced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni via his Twitter handle.

Oulanyah served as the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda from 2021 – 2022.

Now, via her Twitter Kadaga has praised Oulanyah as a key leader Uganda has lost.

She inked, “At this trying moment, I send sincere condolences to the children, the mother and other members of Rt Hon Oulanyah s family as well as friends and relatives, the NRM party, the Parliament and the country have lost a key leader. Condolences to HE the President.”

Oulanyah passed on March 20 in Seattle, the US where he was being treated at.

In his message of condolence, Museveni said Oulanyah was a good Cadre, and that he had to delay the announcement in order to get his children to be informed first.

“I got information of this sad news at 10.30am, East African time from People that have been with him and the doctor that was caring for him in the intensive care unit,” Museveni said.

Kadaga’s Message
The late Speaker was elected to that position on May 24, 2021, after defeating the former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

He had also served as Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, from May 2011 until May 2021.

Oulanyah was also the member of parliament representing the Omoro County Constituency, Omoro District, Acholi sub-region, in the Uganda’s Northern Region.
