Kampala: The Ministry of Health has confirmed that Uganda has registered 326 new COVID-19 cases and 3 deaths from Kampala out of tests done on 11 September 2020, bringing cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans to 4,703, 52 deaths and 1998 recoveries.
The breakdown of the new infections is as follows;
Contacts and alerts (317): Kampala (94), Buikwe (93), Kitgum (29), Gulu (17), Moroto (19), Mbale (10), Amuru (9), Kapchorwa (8), Pader (7), Nwoya (5), Bududa (5), Mukono (5), Wakiso (4), Jinja (2), Omoro (2), Sironko (3), Zombo (2), Arua (1), Namisindwa (1) and Tororo (1).
Others are returnees (9): India (5), Burkina Faso (1), Iraq (1), Italy (1) and Kenya(1).

In the same vein, Ministry tested 178 samples from point of entry, 3,928 samples from contacts and alerts totaling to 4,106 samples tested the whole day.
These come at a time when more than 28.55 million people have been reported to be infected by coronavirus globally and 916,237 have died, according to Johns Hopkins University.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
The United States has recorded the highest number of cases at 6.45 million and deaths at 193,028, followed shortly by Brazil with 130,396 deaths.
India has recorded the second highest number of cases at 4.65 million, rising for second straight day, while the death toll has reached 77,472.
In other hand, thousands of people in Auckland have protested the New Zealand Government’s latest lockdown and social distancing laws, which were brought back last month after a small outbreak of the coronavirus.
Local television footage showed tightly packed crowds, with many people not wearing masks, with estimates of the attendance varying in reports between a thousand and a few thousand people.
“We are all here today because we believe we need to stand up for our rights,” the public Television New Zealand cited Jami-Lee Ross, the leader of the Advance New Zealand party, one of the organisers of the protest, as saying.
Meanwhile, Canada also added 702 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday — its highest daily increase in over three months.
Friday’s data brought Canada’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 135,529. Four new deaths were also reported on but another four were omitted through data revisions, leaving the country’s death toll at 9,163.
A total of 119,671 patients have also recovered from the virus, while over 7.1 million tests have been administered across the country.
Friday’s increase in infections continues to follow an upward trend of new cases in recent weeks. The last date daily COVID-19 cases topped the 700-figure was June 6, which saw 733 new cases of the virus.
