By Andrew Irumba

Kampala: The Uganda National  Examinations  Board (UNEB)  has finally come out to shed light about the ongoing saga that involves state minister for Information and Communication Technology Peter Ogwang’s academic documents.

The saga started after a concerned citizen identified as Emmanuel Byamukama Tayebwa threatened to sue Ogwang over allegations that he used questionable academic documents to contest for the Usuk county Member of Parliament and later presented the samebefore the Vetting Committee last week.

Rumour also circulated that the UNEB had denounced Ogwang’s academic documents.

However, UNEB officials have since refutes the allegations and released a statement on Thursday that reads thus;
“The Uganda National  Examinations  Board ( UNEB ) would like to disassociate  itself  from the unscrupulous information circulating around social media to the effect that  Hon. Peter Ogwang does not  posses a certificate  of Senior Six (S.6). We wish to state that we have not issued any such a statement.
Please disregard  any other  information  to the contrary.

Statement from UNEB about Min. Peter Ogwang’s academic documents

Ogwang’s trouble started after a concerned citizen identified as Emmanuel Byamukama Tayebwa wrote him an intention to sue dated January 6, 2020, through his lawyers of Mushabe, Munungu & Company Advocates.

In the affidavit sworn before his lawyers, Tayebwa alleges that Ogwang doesn’t  possess authentic academic documents.

Tayebwa alleges that Ogwang used fake academic documents to be nominated by the Electoral Commission for the Usuk MP seat.

However, Ogwang in reply assured Tayebwa and his lawyers to go ahead with the suit, although it’s not clear whether they did or chickened out.
